zac-shirtlessBetter check the latest Delta ruling -- no use of an iPod on board at any time.
Hard to believe, but that is the statement in their magazine and they are having the flight attendents enforce it.:(
Can you provide more information about that? There's nothing on Delta's Website that references that, including the latest security bulletins. There is the link to their press release about increased iPod integration, dated November 2006: press release here (http://news.delta.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=10453). Nor are there any iPod-related security suggestions on the TSA's website (which would be the *only* reason Delta or any airline would try to mess with personal music player usage).
I do know you are not supposed to be using any electronic device (which would include the iPod) at take-off or landing, but having a few frequent flier tickets behind me (all earned with the help of my iPod), I just find this very strange.

A little off topic, but question for those who need Office software, and also run Parallels/Fusion: Do you prefer Office For Mac, or do you prefer to run "regular" Office in Parallels/Fusion? Thanks.
Well, you got support for plugins as far as I know in Office 2007/2010 while I don't know if you have it in Office 2008/2011. One of the plugins for example is Ribbon Hero, an interactive tutorial for Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote.
more...of Prince Harry amp; William?I tend to use all the office apps and go back and fourth depending on needs. The exception is PowerPoint for Windows, I don't use that very much.
prince harry shirtless.I feel embarrassed watching them.
Exactly. I find the Mac character to be very smug and condescending. I don't like being associated with that just because I choose to use Macs. I've talked to several people about the ads, and most find them to be offensive because of the elitist attitude. It's not just "Look at how great I am," but it's "Look at how crappy you are, too." Nobody likes being told they're crappy.
Some people I know just dismiss it as an ad for a product they'll never buy. A few told me they ultimately dismissed it before really considering the Mac argument because it seemed like all fluff and no substance (that seems to be a common perception among people who avoid Macs: that they are all about style and not substance). Other people said it actively made them want to do anything to hurt Apple - not only by not buying the products, but advising everyone they know to stay away as well.
I can't think of one person I've talked to who found the ads to be completely positive. The people I know who like Macs were all a bit uncomfortable like me, being stereotyped as smug and elitist.
The big problem with these "hello, I'm a Mac" commercials is that they're an easy target for parodies.
Yeah, they're easy to parody because they're made so simply. Same as the "switch" ads. Speaking of parodies, this one's my favorite:

more...Prince HarryJust because they are improving this build doesnt mean there aren't some major apps or system features they are not revealing to developers.
They could be updating another version of the OS alongside this one with extra goodness!, and the updates are most likely to be fixes based on what the devs tell them is buggy.
I think they have purposefully left stuff out of Leopard for the moment so that it is even more shocking when it is all revealed at the launch of Leopard! thats what apple does best, shocks the public with "one more thing!"I have to agree. I am certain that when Steve Jobs said that there are "Top Secret" features he wasn't joking. Sure we have minor updates but that can't compete with Vista and those features aren't really good enough to be "Top Secret" after all -- how valuable to Microsoft and appealing to buyers are those small features anyway?
My assumption is that Apple will blast Vista away with new Leopard features that haven't been revealed to anyone yet -- including those developers who are currently testing Leopard -- just wait for MacWorld San Francisco (MWSF) in January.

I love Bloom County! I'll have to go back and read some Fundamentally Oral Bill now...
more...Prince Harry Shirtless Polls,Oh noes! The dreaded off-topic discussion on numbering schemes that pops up after each os update. ;)
Which is why it is MANDATORY that Apple release 10.4.10, even if it's exactly the same as 10.4.9 with a change log that says "Updates from 10.4.9: Er, nothing really, sorry." That way these obnoxious discussions can end once and for all.
The numbering scheme just looks like it's base 10. It ain't.
It most certainly is. What else would it be? Hex? Octal? Binary? Of course it's base 10. It's just not a flippin' decimal. ;) The fact that there are TWO dots makes it pretty blindingly obvious that it's just a separator...you know, like they use in phone numbers...please don't tell me anyone thinks phone numbers are decimals....
You know, I often see this posted on the forums, yet I can't think of any example in the past that proves it. Every version after a .9 that I know of has been the last of that series.
Blender: 2.42
Safari: 416.12 (AKA 2.0.2) (Yes, I know it's old ;) )
Wings3D: 0.98.29
Warcraft III: 1.18
Pan: 0.14.2
...etc.
And as far as Quake on a MacBook...that's Quake *1*? Even the crappy GMA950 should be playing that at hundreds of frames per second. Heck, it could do that in software mode! If you're having problems, that's not something OpenGL is gonna fix...probably Rosetta issues unless there's a UB....

I think most people that show hatred to sandy bridge CPU are owners of late 2010 MBA. Bias imo.

We spotted Prince Harry andI'll second that, no intel 3000 will be entering my house
And I doubt that there will be a backlit keyboard again. As I said in the last thread apple took it out for a reason not for fun
And that reason was? Thinness? Cost? Do you have any evidence to back this up?
I think it was simple economics - take out the BL keyboard to get the cost under $999 and keep the margins at 30%.
However, as tech gets more mature, and the R&D Cost is recouped for the new design, I think they can re-add the BL Keyboard w/o sacrificing the $999 Price-point or the 30% margins.
As you said, it wasn't just "for fun", but "for profit" and if they can maintain that profit, and return a marquee feature like the BL Keyboard, why not?
more...prince harry shirtless 01I would love some sort of flip/clamshell design. I've always hated the single flat slate phone design. I want a phone first not a PDA.
Ya know, maybe the iPhone just isn't for you.
prince harry shirtless pics.Did they confirm that the table on which they put the two iPhones was totally even?
Did they confirm they did not photoshop? I doubt they would. But these days, they would do anything for a headline.
tipb also used calipers and found a difference. http://www.tipb.com/2011/04/28/white-iphone-4-roughly-02mm-thicker-black-iphone/
Otterbox, a maker of iPhone 4 cases, also confirms http://www.otterbox.com/iPhone-4-Reflex-Series-Case/APL7-I4XXX,default,pd.html?dwvar_APL7-I4XXX_color=20&start=2&cgid=apple-iphone-4-cases:
Not compatible with WHITE iPhone 4. Due to slight changes in the form factor for the white Apple iPhone 4 released this week, the OtterBox Defender Series, Commuter Series and Impact Series cases will not work with this new device.
as well as several other people.
You are quickly encroaching into wild conspiracy theory territory if you think all these people/sites are making this up.

more...We love youI don't understand why anyone gets so upset about who should be Christmas Number 1? Don't be daft! Whoever is on the top spot...we don't get anything out of it!!! Rage or Joe? Who cares...I like them both. 'Killing in the name' reminds me of my Youth, it is an old good tune and its nice to have it back. Saying that Joe is a lovely young singer under the Simon Cowell claws, forced to sing a totally unsuitable song. Before they even started x-factor finalists live shows they already declared that song being xmas number 1. I am glad that they were wrong in a way. Simon Cowell is still laughing though as it totally boosted Joe's song sales as everyone who actually liked it (or was brainwashed to like it) bought it! So there we go...all it did was creating publicity! Lets be happy that we get so much choice of music and if we don't buy it we can still listen to it on spotify!

No launch titles I really care too much about, making the price not worth it. Don't care for $50 games either.
I'm waiting for the psp2 (at e3, hopefully).
more...Prince Harry hit the beachWord is far more productive for most people IMO because Pages just isn't a word processor. I haven't used Pages all that much and I don't own it so I suppose I can't really complain about it too much but when I have dabbled with it, it's come across as a little over-simplified. It might just be because I'm used to Office apps which are admittedly pretty bloated but nevertheless, Pages just gives the impression of being underdone and kind of useless for most people. Publisher was a horrible app and Pages is merely an Apple (much better) version albeit still kind of redundant. I realize a lot of people here use it productively but it's still a pretty niche app for now. They need to make a better GUI and add some word processing focus IMO.

I'm not buying a tablet until there is one that runs mac OS X (the modbook is too expensive) :D
I'm still a firm believer tablet computers need to come with the following to be considered "standard":
1) Soliataire
2) Minesweaper
3) Disk Defrag
4) A CD Burner
Other than that I do think Woz's comments were right on the money.
Prince Harry practices hisI live a minute away from Stonebriar but I seriously dislike that mall. I'll be at Willow Bend around 4:30!
I really dislike ALL malls, but Friday I will have to suck it up. It will be a game time decision between WB and SB.
I called Knox and Northpark at 8:30pm and the said they would both have stock. They said they've been holding all shipments till tomorrow.
It was announced, see http://blog.officeformac.com/coming-soon-office-for-mac-2011-sp1/ that with SP1, contacts, calendar and notes can now be synced through iTunes. BUT it doesn't! Anyone know what happened?
Follow instructions here:

Whilst it's good to see Apple gaining some market share there is a part of me that does not want them to gain too much. I worry that if they ever become mass market that they will lose some of their uniqueness.
They still neeed to double or triple their marketshare, atl least. At 5% marketshare, they can still be ignored by many software makers. At 15% or even 20% market share, though, you'll hit some critical point where almost every software maker will port their software to OS X.
If you don't want to do it though, just don't use it. Simple as that. Always has been, always will.
"Don't want to do it? Then don't do it."but I have to! If I don't then who is going to complain and whine about it?
