Selena Gomez and Penelope Cruz will add Hollywood star power as nominees at the 26th Imagen Awards. The awards honor movies, TV shows and industry people for representing Latinos and Latino culture positively. Cruz, 37, is a nominee in the Best Actress/Feature Film category for her role in A Matador's Mistress (2008). Selena, 18, is a nominee in the Best Young Actress/Television category for Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place. She will be competing with Bella Thorne ("Shake It Up"), Victoria Justice ("Victorious") and Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer ("The Fresh Beat Band"). Other nominees at the award event include Marc Anthony, Michelle Rodriguez - who is competing with Cruz for her role in Tropico de Sangre, - and Wilmer Valderrama. The list of nominees was announced on Wednesday, June 29 at the Imagen Foundation headquarters in Pasadena, California. Awards will be presented at the Imagen foundation's gala on August 12 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Maria Canals-Barrera will host the show. The winners for Imagen Awards are selected by an independent panel of entertainment industry executives and Latino community leaders.
