Receipt# is printed on check after it's cashed.

In my case, my employer asked me to make checks payable to employer (for attorney fees as well as filing fees) and they cut the check for USCIS and attorneys. I don't understand how it helps them but delays in my getting the receipt#. If they let me pay directly to USCIS, I could at least get the receipt#s. My I-485 was received at NSC on 06/04/2007 morning.

My employer says EVL is not required for 485 filing. How do I make him understand that it is required? Any links from USCIS website or any authentic info will be helpful. I searched and couldn't find it!! TIA

What happens when 485 is pending for more than 180 days and a person already used EAD for his current JOB(because of the policy of the Employer saying that: Once they apply for EAD employee needs to use EAD and company will not extend H1B anymore). Eventually employee will use EAD.

The he loses his JOB(with Current Emlpoyer who is the sponsorer of 140 & 485)? And say he remains without similar JOB for example 2-4 weeks and then finds a JOB with similar JOB description? Does he still remain on Adjustment of Status? Does he needs to be continuously employed till his 485 is adjudicated?

Please provide some input. All your opinions would help many folks!

You can quit after six months and then if taken to a court of law, you can tell the court that the employer refused to give you employment letter and under duress, you were forced to sign the letter. Your other option was to pack bags and leave the country if the employer did not give you the letter. And you can argue that the law lets you change employer after 180 days and hence you are not breaking the law. You can also argue that if the employer had not acted in bad faith by refusing to give you employment letter, you would have continued to work for the employer.

Ofcourse, you will need a very good lawyer if you want to fight the case on moral grounds (because it may be more expensive to fight the case than just pay the amount agreed to in the letter).

I would request IV core team to concentrate on new bill or some way for relief to skilledworkers like us. I dont think waiting until end of July is good option here. It is certain that CIR is not going to be there for this year..whole US world is thinking of same.

Further request to IV core team to work on some thing different for relief for skilled workers

Mr. Vayalar Ravi , Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs,is coming to USA on June 27,2006. He is coming to Washington DC on July 4 to meet Indian Ambassador and Indian community. As far as I know there is no such arranged compromise. In my personal opinion, the tendency is that the Republicans will attempt to stall everything they can and "do the same" to Dems. Here is an expert opinion. I am sorry if that doesn't sound optmistic.

While we keep hearing the rhetoric about "H1B-only ads" by anti-immigrant groups, there is absolutely no news about thousands of "US Citizens only" or "US citizen or GC onl"y ads that we see every day.

While I understand there is a genuine case of 'Citizens Only' when it comes to jobs that involve national security, 98% of the job ads have nothing to do with national security and or government clearance. Most of these are clear and simple violations of Equal Employment Opportunity law, and hence illegal.

Since no one seems to be interested in reporting on this pervasive violation of law and illegal behavior, I have decided to start this thread to report on this highly-prevalent form of discrimination. I invite other members to post similar Job-ad E-mails on this thread (or open other threads) to highlight this issue. This will enable us to post the links whenever someone brings-up the issue of H1b-only Ads next trime. It might also enable members to report to EEOC in large numbers and/or shame the recruiters/employers from posting such blatantly discriminatory job ads.

We have received our cards without getting CPO email. I got email for welcome notice sent on 08/05 and then approval notice sent on 08/08..got cards on 08/11..hope this helps...

My question is - has anobdy got their cards without getting the CPO e-mail - I have recd the approval notice on 11th in the mail - but I have yet to get the cards also I did not get the CPO e-mail:confused:

I also applied on July 19th at NSC and no update yet. Looks like we still need to wait for few more days :-)

I am not interested to pursue this, nor do I have the ability to lead this effort. Plus I am very happy with the effort and the work IV is doing. Which is not for a specific category but a more general appeal. I support that.

But for those who are interested - EB3 (India and ROW). The way USCIS is interpreting the law of spillover, can be easily challenged, because this goes against the spirit of the law. If EB2 and EB1 were to be given special preference at the I485 stage, then clearly they would have been allotted a larger quota to start with. should be a strong enough case for a Class Action Law Suit. Looking at the times that some people have been waiting and are expected to wait this is clearly an option to try out. IV or without IV. :)
