Lady Gaga covers i-D magazine's spring 2011 issue - The Exhibitionist Issue - photographed by Mariano Vivanco and styled by Nicola Formichetti.
It's an...okay set of pictures. Not the best we've seen of her, but not the worst, either. It helps that we love the coat. What's really worth discussing is this, from the Council of Fasion Designers of America, who just announced that she is being honored with the Fashion Icon Award for, "being a fashion revolutionary impacting style today." The Fashion Icon Award is given to "an individual whose signature style has had a profound influence on fashion." Last year's recipient was Iman.
We realize she's a figure of some contention on the internet, but whether you think she's a once-in-a-generation talent or a flash in the pan, there's no arguing that she had a seismic effect on the fashion community from the moment she landed on the scene and their fascination with her shows no signs of letting up. We have been less than laudatory with her at times, but we absolutely agree that she's a fashion icon, even if they probably rushed to announce it a bit early in her career.
