We gasped a little at these pics. While the tone may be a little somber, it's nice to see an editorial that manages to be evocative while at the same time showcasing the clothes effectively. Usually, it's one or the other.
In addition, we adore the early to mid-'60s photography vibe. It's kind of Hitchcock-esque without being too referential. Now granted, "mid '60s" and "Hitchcock-esque" are two fashion editorial trends that are well past stale, but something about this one works for us. Maybe it's because it's not wallowing in that paneled, cocktails, Mad Men version of the decade. This is California mid-Century, not New York mid-Century and that helps make the idea a little fresh for us. It also helps that she looks amazing and they're both giving great (if a little dour) face. That kid of hers just may have a modeling future ahead of him. He's got the genes and he's got the attitude down.
