Thakoon Panichgul says he took inspiration for this collection when he noticed the similarities between the costumes of Versailles and the garments worn by Kenyan tribes. Even for the world of fashion, that's a pretty eclectic mix. He's known for mixing prints, and does so here, to great effect, but his talent for blending the unblendable apparently extends to a thematic level. His idea of "tribal opulence" is very engaging. We love the colors, the batiks and stripes; the plaids mixed with tribal prints; the Masai-inspired draping of plaids and prints. It's a treat for the eyes and a thoughtful statement on the universality of clothing.
