THAT.
Is RIDICULOUS.
It's like Ewan McGregor got up yesterday and said to himself, "Self? What is the absolute cutest possible thing I can do today? Shall I hold a naked baby to my chest? Swim with the otters at the zoo? Sing a solo backed by a choir of blind children? I know! I'll dress up all adorable-like and ride my bike with some sort of poodle-mix puppy in the basket! Yeah!"
Lest you think we only have eyes for the testosterone-dripping types like Jon Hamm and Chris Meloni, let us assure you that little Ewan here has always been at the top of our fantasy list. It helps that he's hung, sure, but he's always been so freaking adorable without looking like he's trying to be adorable. Look at him here. He's riding his bike in a newsboy cap with a poodle in a basket and he STILL doesn't look like he's trying too hard. That's a talent. He could probably dress up in a squirrel costume and still look hot and dignified.
We like the look here. Despite Lorenzo's stated preference to never own one, we do like the classic pea coat. Pair it with a tweed cap, leather gloves and a chunky sweater and you really can't go wrong. HOWEVER, Tom is of the Irish persuasion. So much so, that his childhood is a blur of parties with elderly tipsy Irish women pinching his face and telling him he has "the map of Ireland on his face." Tom could not be paid to wear an outfit like this because Tom knows the instant he puts it on, he will look, not cute like Ewan here, but more like a desperate farmer who just arrived on Ellis Island. Trust him on this: not everyone can pull off a look like this and still look hot. Ewan is adorable (and doesn't look like a farmer), so he can do it. Proceed with caution if you plan on trying this look. Take your bitchiest friend with you to the store. She'll set you right if you come out looking like the Notre Dame logo.
Also, if you want a fun, but little-seen Ewan film, and you share the T Lo sensibility of camp + style, you absolutely must watch Down With Love. Last time we checked, it's on Netflix Streaming, so there's your Friday night. It's hilarious and the art direction is eye-popping.
