Celine Dion performs her new show at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
So Lo comes to T this morning for our daily editorial meeting (in pajamas, bien sur) and says "We could do a post about Celine Dion's stage costumes." "Oh, YES," replied Tom. "That's sure to be HILARIOUS." How very wrong Tom was.
"Costumes" is the correct usage in that she's wearing them on stage, to perform, but really, this is just straight-up fashion because these weren't made specifically for her or the show. No, in this case, someone decided to go shopping on the runways. Check it:
Armani Privé Gown
She wears white way too much, but this looks gorgeous on her.
Balmain Fall 2010 Collection [Giuseppe Zanotti shoes]
This was a bit of surprise to us, because micro-minis do not spring easily to mind when one thinks of Celine. We weren't sure we liked it, but the more we look at it, the more we think she's pulling it off.
Balmain Fall 2010 Collection [Giuseppe Zanotti shoes]
This is a stunning dress. We realize not every woman is going to want to wear those shoulders, but Celine favors a strong shoulder and as stagewear, this really makes a dramatic statement. Same with the shoes. We don't love them on their own, but paired with this dress and put onstage, they work perfectly. You can see them from the cheap seats.
Atelier Versace gown
A little boring.
Very pretty. The color really suits her.
You know, we really have to give her credit. We assumed these would all be explosions of Cher-style Vegas stagewear, but she actually looks very pretty and a little glamorous and dramatic with all of these looks.
