More trouble for Amber Portwood, the scandal-plagued star of MTV’s Teen Mom.

The 21-year-old reality personality was rushed to a hospital near her home in Anderson, Indiana early Tuesday afternoon following a failed suicide attempt. Portwood, who has a two-year-old daughter with her on-again/off-again beau Gary Shirley, was found unconscious in her bedroom with a rope around her neck. After regaining consciousness, Amber admitted to medical personnel at the hospital that she’d tried to overdose on a cocktail of pills. When that failed, she opted to hang herself.

Amber was discovered by Gary’s mother after the concerned dad had a particularly troublesome phone call with the mother of his only daughter and asked his mom to check on her.

“Late this morning (11:34 a.m.), Anderson Police responded to a call at a residence in the 1300 block of Pleasant Meadow Drive,” according to a police report issued a short time ago. “According to the caller, 21-year-old Amber L. Portwood was depressed and threatening to end her life. The victim, who did not appear to be injured, was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.”

The statement continued: “Two policemen arrived, found her face-up on the couch and immediately called for an ambulance. When two EMT workers arrived, they removed the rope that Amber had loosely knotted around her neck. They tried speaking with her, but she was in and out of consciousness and couldn’t respond; she was just moaning. They gave her an oxygen mask, put her on a gurney, and rushed her to the hospital.”

Last Thursday, Portwood pled guilty to two counts of felony domestic battery for repeatedly punching and kicking Shirley during an episode of Teen Mom that sparked outrage when it debuted last season. An Indiana judge suspended her two-year sentence, but ordered her to two years of probation and GED classes. Last month, Portwood lost custody of Leah after a judge ruled that Shirley was a more suitable parent. At the time, Child Protective Services recommended Shirley get full custody because of a rash of vandalism to Portwood’s home and car.
