The age-old adage “Better safe than sorry” is a proverb bootylicious socialite Kim Kardashian will be taking into her new marriage. Kris Humphries, a hoopster with the New Jersey Nets, might have proposed to Kardashian with a lavish 20.5 carat, $2 million engagement ring, but big bling is no guarantee for a marriage being rock solid — so the reality queen is insisting on a prenup.
“It’s the smart thing to do,” both Kim and Kris have reportedly told their friends.
After a whirlwind six month romance, Kris and Kim got engaged on May 18 and they’re planning on getting married within the next few months, but not before crossing a few t’s and dotting several i’s on the financial front. We hear the soon-to-be newlyweds are negotiating a prenuptial agreement prior to tying the knot. Insiders say Kim’s late father, famed O.J Simpson attorney Robert Kardashian, taught his daughter the importance of contracts and the stunner feels her dad would have wanted her to take financial precautions.
Kim, 30, is worth a staggering $35 million, and although her pro basketball beau is “only” making $3.2 million a year, his family runs a few burger joints in Minnesota, bringing his net worth up to around $8 million.
