Akshay Kumar and Russell Peters executive produced Indo-Canadian film Breakaway, which packages Bollywood glamor to western sensibilities is getting press attention in Canada.

And not just because it has Russell Peters dressed as a Sikh groom dancing on an elephant! Or, includes Rob Lowe and Camilla Belle in its star cast.

The film is a serious attempt at making Bollywood – Hollywood joint productions look happenstance.

Directed by Robert Lieberman, the film headlines Vinay Virmani, Russell Peters, Anupam Kher, Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi and Noureen Dewulf, with Rob Lowe, and Camilla Belle. It has cameo appearances by Akshay Kumar, Aubrey ´Drake' Graham (Music Feature) and Chris ´Ludacris' Bridges (Music Feature).

Set in suburban Toronto, the film tracks a young man struggling between traditional Indo-Canadian family expectations and his dreams of hockey stardom.

The film is executive produced by Russell Peters' Carmel Films, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's Hari Om Productions and Whizbang Films.
