leave here..Any organization needs money to survive...Who
will donate it? But I agree that we need an organization
to represent ourselves.

Certain things we could address after GC Retrogression is
undercontrol ( if ever happens)

1. Address FBI name check issue..
2. Bring back VISA revalidation inside USA so that we
dont have to make a trip to US embassy..
3. Work for getting Social Security money back if we returns to home country.
....etc etc........
As time pass by old issues may be solved, but new issues will
surface.....

So I'll support an organization for sure!

I want to address this to everyone. Any organization needs a clear and precise Vision statement. Majority of the senior member complain that the people with green card and citizenship do not support immigration voice; then the question becomes what is our vision. If we confine ourselves to the benefit that we all should get green card, then what is the need for someone who has already got a green card to visit this web site. Humans are need based animals, whether you like it or not tomorrow if I get my Green Card (A big IF) it is very much likely that my visit to this website will be minimized. My priorities will be different. So core group should get a better vision statement which might address all immigrants.

The reason I came to immigration voice is slightly different, because I am still not convinced enough to accept that core group could do something which will make our law makers� act different. I support immigration voice on a bigger picture, it unites all immigrants together, and the website provides me support to all my immigration need. For example, I can search the website and find information regarding visa stamping, H1 quota and what my fellow countrymen think about it. So my sincere advice to the core group is to create a vision statement which is much bigger than the green card issue and which will make sure all immigrant no matter with green card or not will visit our website. Make the vision statement visible in the website. You have much better exposure through this. I have to agree, I am writing this out of frustration :D , but to be honest, do not treat this website for green card retrogression alone, treat it as something bigger, which will address all immigrant needs.

Invite the Senators to this meeting.

Make them come since we pay Taxes. That way , they know that there is legal Immigration Community .

Invite the Heads of DMV so that they can address our driving problems

Invite SSN people local heads.


When we do this, we can pay for their expenses to join us in that meet.

That's correct. I clarified it with my attorney in past. Primary applicant has to maintain H-1 status to support H-4 for the spouse and he cannot use EAD to work.

I was with with Company A and my H1B approval notice was until 2011 and my wife H4 approval notice was also until 2011.
Recently I changed to Company B, where this company applied only H1B transfer and received a receipt number for that and it is in pending status. And they are saying H4 transfer also applied at the same time but we didn't received the receipt notice yet.
In this H1B transfer process I got query on that petition, now Company B is saying I will not submit any documents for above query.

I have an EAD when I was with Company A and it is still valid. I am planning to move onto EAD.....

Can my wife change her status to F1 (Student) even her H4 transfer receipt is not available?
And the old H4 approval notice is still in approved status when I check in USCIS website.

Please help me in this situation, let me know all your opinion about this case.

I didn't quiet get from your message whether the "08xxxxxxx" has an "A" preceding it. In all probabilty it should.

If it indeed has an "A". It is a A# so you might as well forget about deducing on a visa # being assigned based on the A# on the FP :)

An according the website you referred to, nowhere does he mention about a visa #. The A# being assigned for life has nothing to do with a visa # !

I'm trying to understand if it is a general practice of USCIS to specify an A# on the FP notice. My FP notice has an A# that starts with 08xxxxxxx. I wonder if it is the actual visa number since according to http://www.kkeane.com/general-faq.shtml my number is the visa number:

Contact the state bar of this lawyer. Each lawyer is licensed to practice in his state. call them up and ask for your options.

I am in the same boat and need to get my address updated. So what I understand from above posts is that there is no need to do paper based AR11 and can just do it online for I-485, EAD as well as AP, right?? Once done, just keep printouts for records , thats it???

I have a question regarding the status check of the 485 process. Does USCIS change the Updated date (maybe a soft LUD) before approval/completion of processing of 485 on the Case Status.

I know its a yes/no/maybe not always kinda answer but I wanted to check with those who already had approved 485s if they had noticed updates before the Approval. If yes, what is the usual timeframe after the update when the approval has been noticed.
I am sure, like me :) you must have kept checking the Case Status page like crazy once the dates were current so, please respond and I am sure many will benefit from your responses.

I am sure, many of you who are still waiting like me,already have friends who went thru this process, so, even your inputs are welcome.

In my case, it did not. The I-485 application status changed directly to "Approval notice sent". Then next day I got "Card production ordered" and after that "Welcome notice sent".

Ported to company "B", I-140 (EB2-I) approved (premium - 2007)
Company "B" filed for 1st 3-year H1B extension using AC21 as backup
Filed for I-485: RD=Aug 2; ND=Sep 17
Changed to company "C" 2 months back using AC21 (don't know details of documentation sent - handled by company "C" legal department)
Company "C" filed for 2nd 3-year extension H1B using AC21as backup
FP done in Oct 2007
Used AP for Int'l travel 6 times for business trips.
Soft LUDs in Dec 2007, Feb 2008
Applied for EAD renewal in July 2008
Applied for AP renewal in Aug 2008
Waiting for I-485 approval ... No RFE yet

one suggestion, make it a paid site. Even a minimum of 5$ a month would add quite a bit to the revenues. Even if we assume only 5000 people will sign up, it is still a decent chunk of money. I am not sure if this goes against the principles of a non-profit organisation. The way I look at it, people are saving a lot of money by avoiding lawyers fees.

Plus we have people who are willing to donate. How many of these 20,000 people you think are people who people who understand BEC and the long term effect of the surge of applications. It is important to make people understand the effects and the potential problems with retrogression. Let us take a poll for people to see how many of us are just happy to get EAD/AP. We might find some surprising answers!

Usually, USCIS comes close to a grinding halt during the holiday season. People who see some progress in their applications during this period should consider themselves lucky. I would say people shouldn't bother too much until beginning of next year and should enjoy the holidays without any undue stress or tension.

One interseting thing you mentioned about your current employer "which is paying me half of what I should be earning as a GC holder".

Not paying the prevailing wage that the employer promised in the GC application....I don't know if you can use that to move and show that you wanted to work but the employer was not paying the prevailing wage and you had no option but to leave? I am sure that this is illegal on part of the employer...make sure you keep your paystubs to show this. But consult an attorney to see what he/she thinks.
