Are the locations of your employer and client in the same city, otherwise the LCA submitted at the time of H1B extension becomes inconsistent. I believe your best bet is to file a new H1 if possible, MTR likely looks difficult as your current situation is different from what was petitioned. New H1 being approved may also depend on how big your company is internal project to them for consulting companies to them is synonymous with bench. I think, similar to DOL backlog elimination centers, they will pull all the pending
cases and put them into a new system. The data entry for such an excercise will take 2 years. Afterwards the real processing will start.

Couple of years back, it was simple.. You just walk to the local IRS office and fill in a W-7 with proper ID, you are done. This has changed now. You can apply for a ITIN (W7) for H4, only when you file your tax returns. You complete the Form W-7 and file it along with your tax return, The W7 is processed first and then the taxes.

Yesterday, I received one more appointment notice for a different day (one day after the original appointment). This is in addition to the appointment notice that I had received earlier.

Has this happened to anybody before? Is it just a mistake on the part of USCIS? I am planning on going there as per the first notice.

I recently used the AP to enter the US. There were no issues in the US. However, the immigration official in India had some confusion trying to understand the AP. I had to show him a letter that my company's lawyer had given me listing the details of the AP and that I could use it for entering the US.

Fine by me if they do offer some SLA. That's always been missing. Thats what I exactly pointed out in my comment. If they were to return my money back if they do not meet their SLA, no one will have issues. or just have PP for almost everything and give equal importance to people who either value time or money.

The truth is that the intent of the Congress was for the fees to cover USCIS business expenses. If USCIS is able to show the Congress that their expenses at the current level are not covered in full by the current fees, new fees will be justified even without improved service quality according to the law. The problem is that the public doesn't know how much of USCIS expenses are going uncovered by the current fees structure. Had they disclosed that piece of information we probably wouldn't have had this discussion in the first place.
