I received email from USCIS this morning for my wife I-485 i.e Card Ordered for Production. I am the Primary applicant, but i am still waiting for my turn. My PD is Sep 2004 & EB2.

We booked our tickets to India before we received this email. I am travelling in 3rd week of Sep. We both have new AP's. So is i have to wait here in USA to receive the Card or can i proceed with my actual plan?. Can anybody share their expertise?.

I am currently with a company through which I filed my I-485. The filing was done by the company laywer. If I invoke AC21 after 180 days of filing and change to a different company, how would I ensure that USCIS removes the current lawyer as the attorney of record? This is assuming that I want to represent myself and not use a lawyer after switching to a new company.

Not sure what the big deal is..those guys looted the world anyway..
be happy that they are not thrown in jail..brain drain in these kind of activities is what is needed..put your brain to good use and not just in creating junk papers..

One of my friends got his passport back in 6th week.

I would say, be persistent in contacting them. They are not very good at getting back to people - no accountability. Send emails and fax explaining your situation ....twice a day until they reply back.

My current passport is expiring in Jun 07. I have applied for passport renewal at Indian Embassy (Washington D.C.) in 3rd week of Jan 07 via courier. I may have to travel urgently to India by end of this month. Just wondering if anyone recently got their passport renewed at DC and what was the duration. It will help me to take the decision about departure date. Unfortunately DC is 5 hours drive from where I live. I am not sure even if take a day off and drive to DC to collect the passport they will even give it to me on the same day. Multiple attempts to contact DC office via phone/email were not helpful. No one picks the phone and their voice mail system is always full. Any advise on what I should to do know status of my passport renewal would be appreciated.

I don't remember immi status even coming up during mortgage appli!

It comes up on the loan application when it asks if you are a US Citizen.

I spoke with the lawyer. She asked me to get an affidavit stating the arrest reason and also what happened. She will send this as soon she gets my receipt number.
I am not having any case/docket number since this happened 4 years back.
Lawyer is saying this should be ok and this falls under misdemeanor.
Any suggestion?

Researchers from Wharton have discovered that female homeowners, on average, outweighed renters by 12 pounds.

Female homeowners were also carrying around more aggravation, making less time for leisure, and were less likely to spend time with friends.

"Home ownership can be a much more complex idea than just a straightforward expression of what we call the American dream," says Grace Wong Bucchianeri, an assistant professor of real estate at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. The story was reported on Canada.com

But what about all the good stuff that comes with owning a home? Aren't homeowners benefiting from the security and independence of owning. Not really. The research shows that when you control for things like childbirth and income, the difference in contentment vanishes.

"I don't see any strong evidence that homeowners are any happier than renters," says Bucchianeri, whose 600-woman study is under review for publication in the Journal of Urban Economics. "On the other hand, they consistently report a higher level of pain — or what you might call negative feelings — connected to their home, and that's after controlling for all kinds of demographic characteristics, their financial situation, how many children they have and so on."


Bound to happen. Houses have been overpriced and House ownership has been way more expensive than renting in recent years. So if one buys a house there would be very little discretionary income to have a good life.

I am really excited to hear finally we got $60K to continue our approach to urge immigration reform. That is really great! And I already asked my employer to send letter to NYS Senator Charles Schumer and Hillary Clinton to support comprehensive immigration reform. Looks like you missed to check it before you went thru hospital. It is always advisable to apply Birth Certificate thru Hospital and apply SSN yourself at the SSN office.. This way you will get your SSN within 2 weeks of you applying SSN. Many times hospital staffs explain this unfortunately you did not get this msg.. You can call SSN office and see if you can get SSN over phone.

Thanks for your responses. The hospital staff told us it would take 60-90 days to get the SSN. I am stuck until that arrives because only then can I apply for the passport. Any way to get around it?

They might be sending second FP notice every 15mnths of first/consecutive FP's done once it expires in their system..wait for that notice and dont worry about it now..

I am not worried about when my FP expires and things on those lines....
my questions is for jobs that require green card or citizenship... there are some federal jobs out there that require security clearance....and for which they need either green card holders or citizen I beleive...

Now if one has an EAD (no green card yet, 485 pending for more than 1 year) and has got his/her FP done in FEB 2008 what does that mean...does it mean that once you have your FP done there is some kind of security clearance that you get from FBI ?...can you say you have active security clearance..if so what kind of security clearance is that called ?...as I said when I went for the Biometrics/FP (Code 3) they stamped the notice with the following
