Corvette Zr1 2009 WallpaperThe main problem with the UI I think is that it is too hard to access things that you want to do all the time. Everything is in that annoying palette with all those buttons, when instead Apple should move some things to the toolbar. I want to be able to change fonts and styles and justification with the click of a button. Also, it needs an equation editor. Until Apple fixes these things, I'm sticking with AppleWorks. Fortunately, I don't feel like I got ripped off because of Keynote 2.

The worst thing about the picture is the amount of noise it has and the fringing by the flowers. UGH!
I know you're being at least somewhat sarcastic, but I'd like to see you get something better from a hand-held 1/60 sec exposure at F2.0 and the ISO set to 3200.
It is amazing that this is even possible without image stabilization. I mean...ISO 3200!

Interesting. Faster backup speeds ftw
Corvette Zr1 WallpaperI wonder if they'll do a version of the ad with the female camera that speaks Japanese, but make her an American camera that speaks English. :-)
In that US version ad, the Japanese chick says the PC guy looks like a "otaku." I think "Otaku" is roughly translated to homeboy (stay-at-home guy or geek).
more...2009 GM Selling Corvette ZR1Well, I fell for it and bought this baby. It feels pretty nice, it's not my first XO per se (I had one borrowed for 6 months before from a friend) but it's nice to finally have my own and I can start buying a bigger game library.
I'll make it a habit to install games now since it has a big enough hard drive, and it makes a lot less noise when no disc is spinning. It's totally not "whisper-quiet" like they claimed in E3 but it's noticeably quieter than the older one. The fan speed rises periodically the longer you have it turned on, after 2-3 hours of gaming it sounded much closer to the old one. Did you notice the new smaller power brick actually has a fan now? That's what's making most of the sound :/
So far I'm playing RDR and trying to finish some older titles like Oblivion and Fable 2. Got any suggestions? I'm looking at Mass Effect 2.
The 2009 Corvette ZR1 andYou can't boot XP from CD on a Mac. You can't you can't you can't. The Mac boots using EFI, which XP doesn't support.
You need to use Boot Camp to install it, as legacy BIOS emulation has to be loaded specifically for XP.
Incorrect information. Move along.
Mac Pro already contained the legacy bios emulation built into the EFI (bootcamp has nothing to do with this) from the factory. You can boot directly to a XP CD without loading bootcamp. Bootcamp is a collection of drivers.

A good hire, Apple deserves him;)
i-Phone? i-Pad? your opinion is worthy.
more...Corvette Zr1 2009 WallpaperHas apple ever officially responded to any false marketing claims they may have accidentally stated? For example - them stating their macbook pro battery life lasts X amount of time, however it really lasts X -3 hours.. and they've responded in an official capacity?
Battery life isn't really anything you can debate, as it largely depends on use, brightness and so many other variables. That's why Apple says "up to x hours".
What other false marketing are you referring to? There has been some in the past, but I can't recall anything recent.

Yeah I paired it manually but it didn't work.
more...2009-corvette-zr1-engine-ls9-I don't see Apple getting more than 10% marketshare anytime soon unless they do something significant.
I don't know anybody who has switched. I've known a few people who seriously considered it, but when they learned they'd have to spend another $200 for Windows XP so they can run their 'XP Only' things, they settled on a PC.
I think Apple is more concern with building beautiful computers and fabulously looking music player than they are about selling large amount of PCs or mp3 players. Case in point, my office mate has a dell laptop and when we place our laptops next to one another (mine is a black MacBook) you can definitely tell. Personally, the reason why I brought the MacBook instead of a HP laptop that cost $500 less is because the HP laptop is ugly. It is simple. I don't care about the amazing video card that has a trillion bytes of RAM that I will never see. My MacBook works well (iLife, Safari and Office suite) and looks gorgeous!
If Apple continues to create stylist electronic devices that are simple to use and help people do things easily, they will gain marketshare albeit not by much.

more...2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1Ok so maybe off track but how much longer can the Darwin/Mach underpinings of both OS X and iOS last?
How long till we get to a much better way of doing the lowest level of stuff that Apple starts transitioning the OS to a new kernal. Reading the wiki page for the Mach kernal it would seem many of Mach functions are either duplicated or at least extracted in to newer OS features like grand central. Plus they've put alot of investment in to the LLVM compiler chain.
I guess I'm wondering if "the Future of iOS and OS X" doesn't involve Mach? Lion/5 being the last in that line. With Apple taking the WWDC to discuss what's coming after these two as much as what's in these two. You'd imagine that transition would be a two year public plan to make sure developers are getting themselves ready and it seems like Lion/5 will be in reasonable shape for those that need to delay a the transition for their own work reasons.
Makes it sound like Apple will keep the two brandings to distinguish the two user experiences.
Apple already overhauled the kernel in Snow Leopard, it's designed to last another decade or two. The kernel is fine and doesn't need to be replaced. It's the file system that needs to be changed out on the Macs.
Also both cores of iOS/Mac OS X are based on the same OS X core. It's the middle/front ends that are optimized for the medium, iOS for touchscreen mobile devices and Mac OS X for computers with keyboard/mouse/multi-touch.
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 2009I have heard of Folding@home at it sounds interesting. I like the idea of helping scientists with their experiments.
Unfortunately I have two problems with this.
1) Ultimately where does all this research go? Who is benefitting from it all? I can't help but think that all this research will just enable some multi-billion dollar drug company to come up with some pill that they can patent and make billions of more dollars. I tried reading the faqs of Folding@home, but it does not really say where all this research is going. I am sure the scientists mean well with their research, but ultimately they will not be the ones creating the drugs to cure these diseases. Drug companies will be doing that, and they are strictly profit oriented.
2) My electricity prices are going up by about 10% so I really don't like the idea of my iMac running 24-7 eating up electricity, and adding to the wear and tear of my system. I'm not sure what the monthly cost would be running Folding@home, but I'm sure it adds up.
Can anyone here comment on these concerns?
Well you do have a point. I can't really comment about it, other than that I don't know.
And yes, electricity costs do add up. But I still believe that it's a good thing to do
more...2010 Corvette Zr1 Wallpaper. And a Apple branded USB Thumb drive makes no sense cost wise! DVD makes much more sense as an installation media.
I don't think Apple will be bothered by a few bucks because Apple is the cash king.
OS media on the USB stick makes sense because it is a lot faster than DVD-ROM.
2010 Corvette Zr1 WallpaperWhat about denying somebody a job because of their, say, intelligence? Charisma? Any number of things that are largely predetermined?
I used to work for a Major Music retailer and when interviewing people we always decided who would get the job based upon personality... If say we had 10 CV's these would already be the good CV's as the bad ones never got to the interview stage...
So out of the 10 candidates be they White, Black or Asian, Male or Female the one that got the job would be the one whom we felt would bring the most to the team.
IE would we like to spend time with this person outside of work as well as inside.
Corvette Zr1 2009 Wallpaper. Not at all. As I said, I have no inclination for either Joe or RATM, or most chart music in general to be honest. I just thought the 'campaign' was pathetic, and still do.
It will be interesting to see what gets played more on the radio over the next week. I have a feeling it won't be RATM, which will indicate how pathetic and meaningless this whole 'campaign' has been. This is what I have been getting at all along. Someone will need to let me know though as I don't listen to the radio much either.
Oh... grow up would you. Don't take your bat and ball home. It's a bit of fun, a bit of a chuckle, a bit of rebellion over the xfactor. Just because RATM have won, doesn't mean that the xfactor is going to be axed and Simon Cowell is going back to his Mr Blobby days.
If anything, this has helped the music industry, the thought of actually rebelling against the conveyer belt "machine" being the xfactor has actually inspired people to buy music, getting more people interested in the competition and reducing music piracy. People have supported who they want to win by buying the songs, unlike before, where a few thousand people would buy Joe's song, and the xfactor would win. If anything, Simon Cowell should be happy that there has been an interest in his and RATM's song.
I downloaded it and tested it out a bit this afternoon.
First thoughts, Voice is real tinny sounding and not the easiest to understand.
Downloading maps was not a problem in the city at city speeds, on the highway that's another story, with in a couple miles the map ran out and never really did catch up till I got off the highway about 10 miles later with a full signal 3G connection.
The interface is nice and is very easy to use. Maps are good turn by turned was flawless. Checked out how current the maps where by going through a new subdivision only about 2 months old and it found all the street names no problem.

Continuing this brief diversion...
I've seen no attempt to quantitively factor quality into all these price comparisions that get thrown around. The build quality on my shiny doors is better than the build quality on any PC I've personally seen since a really nice Intel (yes, Intel) built PC from about '93.
If there's a desire to compare simply on price, then you might as well use a random number generator - it's too much Apple and Oranges.
I remember the storm caused a few years ago when a number of the UK PC manufacturers admitted that a 5% - 10% failure rate was the rates they operated on. I've just witnessed 3 motherboards out of about 15 go "phut" at work - due to design defects rather than going out of warranty as well. So should I conclude that they're good value for money because they are cheaper?
I'd be in the category 'looking for a reason to buy one, but just can't see what I'd use it for'.

If someone is going to specifically test disk read/write speeds then one needs to also look into and see if the SSD is the Toshiba or Samsung model. I for one have the Samsung model and scored higher on the disk test then his model.
+1 for at least testing a MBA with 4 gigs of ram.
Aperture and iPod the library can be transferred via iTunes 7 now also to iPod and regarded there.
Wanted this too.:)
