As far as I know dream act does not offer anything for legal kids. Its all about kids of undocumented workers.

I am not quite sure why should I support this bill. Unless this bill includes age out protections for legal kids or legal kids get the same benefits as kids of undocumented workers, I don't think many people would support this.

Please let me know if you know any provisions that help us or hurt us . I am open to change the mind ...

I recently moved from NC to PA. I have not yet received my FP notice at my old address. Is it possible to have this changed to PA? Is reschedule possible? Can someone please respond?

I went through the entire thread, i did not find any cases of people who had never used AC 21 and who left their employers right after 485 approval.

To be very specific, we need clarification on what the consequences are of leaving the sponsoring employer right after getting the GC esp people who never used AC21 and have been with the sponsoring company for several years before getting the GC.

In regards to this request to utilize �The American
Competitiveness in the Twenty-First Century Act of 2000 (AC21)� which allows for a change of employer on any approved I-140 and I-485 Adjustment of Status Application that has been pending for 180 days or more, without the need to file a new I-140 petition.
(Attached for your reference are relevant portions of AC21.)

The memo lists two preconditions for eligibility to change jobs- I485 is pending
UN adjudicated for 180 days or more and the new job is in the similar occupational classification as the job for which the certification was initially made in section 106(c).
In the present case, my client has had an H-1B transfer filed for him, and is utilizing
AC21 provisions for a new job with the same title and duties as the former. Please find attached a letter from the current employer regarding the job title, duties and salary. I therefore respectfully request that your office should adjudicate my client�s I-485 accordingly under AC21 provisions. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have attached the following requisite documentation including:
Attach all the copies (Receipts - I-129, I-140, I-485, I-765, I-131) that you have
Employment offer letters, EAD copies, Labor Certification Approval copy (first page)
All other documents that you can support for AC21

This states that, unlike earlier, petitions filed without initial evidence are more likely to be rejected than to be RFE-ed. (See towards end of first page).

Hi everyone,
I reviewed the text of the bill...and, to the best of my understanding, the Dream Act applies to both legal and illegal children. This bill is crucial for me. I am 27 years old and have been in the United States since age 1 (Yes, 26 years)...LEGALLY!!! My husband (i married another visa holder and changed my status about 5 years ago) and I have been pending for a greencard for about 2.5 years now (I'm not counting the other failed attempts)...and still no luck. I completed my bachelors degree in Psychology years ago and cannot work (my field of study is fairly common in the US...nobody I've come across was willing to sponsor for an h-1). Unfortunately, going back to my "home" county isn't an option for me because this is the only home I've ever known. Anyhow, I would really appreciate everyone's support...hopefully this piece of legislation can benefit people like myself and we can contribute to society as well. Thanks!! :)

the recent versions of the DREAM act were clearly meant ONLY for children without documentation. that remains one of the most troublesome aspects of this legislation.
to address the comments above: sure we are all for the kids of illegal workers, but we would like to see the same benefits at least be provided to those who play by the rules....the above story is an excellent example of this.

Beware of companies that have office in Ameerpet, Hyderabad. Most of them are phony companies.

As the Past President of a PMI Chapter (PMP for the past 10 years and working in the field of Project management for the past 15 years) let me shed some light to this query.

Reasons why you should do PMP
1) If you believe you need a promotion, new job or rise the corporate ladder within the field of IT or management, take PMP.....Billing rate of PM's is $90-150/hr for consulting, full time could be from $100K-$250K. The next generation CIO's will be highly qualified PM's.
2) Job security for PMP's. The only job that will not be outsourced to India or China is that of a project manager.
3) PMP will help you get the project manager job, if you do not have one. However, become a Project Manager only if you like working with people. Trust me, if you hate politics and hate managing people, it is better for you to stay a techie. Your life will be miserable if you do not like managing people. Do something that you enjoy, rather than what you may hate. It is all about people and people management, rather than project management in the world of PMP's
4) PMP has become mandatory for all large gigs or projects. Small projects do not need PMP's and small projects do not pay well too.
5) PMP does not make you a better project manager. But PMP is needed by the industry. It is the experience that one gets from being on the field from different industries that makes one a good project manager.

I hope this should help some of you to make a decision to be a PMP or not.

I work for IBM and IBM just recently outsourced almost all the PM's and SDM's job to India only ( Not to China because of English speaking ability ).
IBM got tonnes of skilled MBA's with english speaking. As of now hardly I see any PM's from US during calls. But I admire you for all the other points. well said.

Thanks for greaat posts, everyone. Just to follow up with Jaime's point it is tru that we are not all from India or Aisia in general. I guess I should have mentioned that. I am from a northern place - from Russia. Actually I was born and raised in one of the southern former Soviet republics, which had relatively warmer climate. But I lived for over 5 years in Russia before coming here. I just mention that, because I read it the cold Canadian weather seems to be the number one downside. It is not such a big deal to me or my wife, because it was as cold or perhaps even colder back home.

Just as Jaime I am not here just for ecenomic reasons. I wuld be better off (financially) back home. I guess we are in search of better life (qualitatively), and that is why I am wondering about Canada.
And perhaps due to somewhat European backgraund I seem to have nostalgia for European flare sometimes; hence the questions about Montreal (which I presume is a bit more European that TO).
I guess I would like to put a streignt question to those who lived in or familiar with Canada.
- I am from a Northen Country (even leave in Northeast here in US).
- I worked full time for 5 years in US (plus a year of internship)
- My field is Not IT though, it is in business (data analysis, finance, supply chains, etc)
- My in English is quite good (for and immigrant especially)
- I have some basic knowledge of French and willing to learn more
- I have a Masters degree (few actually) from US universities
- As I mentioned I have a family including kids.

My question is - what do you think my chances are in Canada in general, and in Montreal specifically?

My problem is that, i have approved h1b, went for stamping to canada, got stuck there for 60 days under 221g, the consulate has still my stamping pending,meanwhile to protect my job i used my AP.

my questions, do i have use ead or can stay in h1b when the stamping is pending.

First of all make a complaint about the employer to the INS that he is not paying... and make decision, US is not your entire life. If you have confidence you can do anything anywhere in this small world.

We have skills and ability to make many more countries like US.... We have to beleive it....
